Define Lines

Lines:

My own Definition: Lines make the eyes follow across the image in different directions.

Online Definition: The theory of lines in photography is that they convey a feeling to the viewer of the given photograph.
This is such as…

Vertical lines=  creates a feeling of great power.
The lines from this structure conveys clear power and strength due to the fact this is a historical building and has surveyed so long automatically shows power.

Horizontal lines= creates calmness and tranquility
The line upon the horizon creates a a calm sensation for the veiwer especially due to the  fact this photo is a peaceful setting the use of the lines has a greater impact on the emotions felt.

Diagonal lines= encourages the viewer to follow that line.

This is clear from this picture as you simply automatically follow these lines to see where they lead to.

Curved lines= conveys peacefulness
The curves from the river prove that they convey peacefulness because rivers them self normally calm people and the fact it is a bendy river creates emphasis for this sense of peace.

Converge Lines= creates depth and scale of the photo.
It is clear from this photo that the building with these lines on is very tall, the fact we know this is from the lines themselves proving that the lines have a great position on informing us how high buildings are in photos such as this one.
