Manipulating images work diary 7th January 2016

During the lesson on the 7th January 2016, we learnt about manipulating images. My main aim to today's lesson was to make interesting and obviously out of place photos. I didn't want to do simple images and thought this was the best way to go about it as I learnt how to do it in an amusing way. This wasn't really my most favorite lessons because we didn't actually take any of our own photos. I also don't like using other people photos, so this is why I look forward to making our own 4th plinth photos later on in the term.

An image I like...
This is my favorite image that I manipulated in today's lesson. Unfortunately my computer was running extremely slow so I only managed to create 3. This is my top one because I find it interesting how a monkey would clearly not be caught doing this. especially one  of this size. I wanted to position my monkey in this way because I think it makes it look like it is climbing.

An image I don't like...
This is my least favorite image from today's lesson because it's too simple and I don't like how it doesn't blend in as much. I think if there were other children character's it would make it a bit better because it would help it blend in. I tried using different techniques on photo shop although it just made it look even more out of place.

Progression...

If I was able to re-do this lesson, I would like to vary the ways I manipulated my images. Instead of adding an object into photos. I would like to manipulate the image around a bit. For example the one with the mouths on the hands- the horror aspect is really interesting in manipulating photos. Examples of ways I would like to progress in manipulating images are shown below.

Progression put in place…

When researching, most of the images I come across are rather amusing, take this one for example, an over sized bird ice skating with tiny ice skating boots. This is a really good example of manipulating images because it is out of the ordinary. I like this image as well because it's clearly not meant to be there, yet for some bizarre reason it works.

This is another image I had to include because I love the way this person has used the manipulating skill to show a fish- in its natural habitat, yet the on it's back there's an island. I really like this image because the fish is over sized and it all fits.

Even though this is a much more simpler manipulation compared to the 2 images I have picked above, although I still really like it. I really like converse shoes and the way they have manipulated it is very interesting- it is like it's splashed away.

This is one of my top favorites in this blog post because I like how it's such a simple idea, yet it's so amusing. The manipulation of the man using a lawn mower put onto a man with a beard, is such a good idea, I also hope to recreate this image in some way.

The reason I chose this image is because it is a good example of a bold manipulation image. This is because they have put a women on top of a building- the size of this women is obviously inhuman, so I really like how the have photo-shopped her in and the lighting makes it look like she's really there.

I like this image and find it inspiring because I have seen many photos manipulated in this way and would like to do the same. I think the way the face is put on the hands is really interesting.

Composite/ manipulated images

My view of image manipulating: When an image is manipulated, such as removing blemishes from a portrait, I believe it can be a good thing, although if you want to capture a photo, I think editing changes the whole point of the photo, your changing what you actually captured. For example if you edit a landscape, such as editing a part of it out, it changes the point/ what the landscape really looks like.

The actual meaning for image manipulating: photo manipulation is transforming a photograph into a desire image.

The ethics of image manipulating: young girls may look at magazines and want to look liker hat, although it's not real, even that per on doesn't look like that. It makes a false hope for teens. Although, if you were to capture a photo from an event such as a tourist attack, the newspaper may need to edit part out to make it suitable for the viewers

Manipulated images are used in magazines, the can be used to exaggerate a part of a portrait, for example if its a close up, they can exaggerate the eyes, make them more bolder, along side you can take out the blemishes. You can also use manipulated images to put something where it is completely out of place, which would be used in art exhibits. For example, a massive duck in the middle of a town. It can also be used in animated movies, where only part is animated, for example scooby doo films- scoody doo is clearly not there but it is manipulated for him to be there.
