The main element in this photo creating this intriguing image of shape is the negative space. The negative shape creates a simple shape of a woman's arm and face. Alongside this shape the negative space creates shapes itself, for example, in the left top corner the create an irregular triangle. This creates an intriguing composition because its black an white colour joined by the negative space clearly makes it clear that this is a face of a lady. However is this just art or is sexual objectification?
If this photo was taken with a woman wearing clothes such as leggings or jeans, many people would see that as art, but because these are bear legs, some could see this as sexual objectification. I like the way the negative space isn't plain as it sets the scene in a way. The con nations of this image could be that made she's lounging around. The image on the right just shows a woman's bear legs half crossed over whilst by the looks of it laying down. Alongside the simple shape of the legs, the negative space in between the legs also creates a shape. I personally feel intrigued by this image, as there is not colour taking away any of the focus, you are forced to look more in depth of this image. The way Bill Brandt creates this emotion whilst looking at this image is supported by many more for his images. Whilst looking at his other photos there is a main theme running along all of them, they are all black and white. This could be because Brandt wants the audience to look more whats within the image rather at what the colour creates the image to be.
It is very clear through his photos that Bill Brandt's photos are rather obscene but depending on who the audience is depends on whether or not his photos are seen as sexual objectification or just art.
